Mike Arends, operations director

Born and bred in Groningen, Mike (29) joined Van de Velde Packaging GKB as a trainee more than 10 years ago and is now responsible for day-to-day activities as operations director. Mike has been at the company since the very beginning, so he has inside knowledge of everything from unloading containers to sales.

Mike feels he has achieved huge personal growth in his current position at Van de Velde Packaging GKB, thanks to the support of a close-knit group and strong guidance from former director Mike Lubben.

For Mike, the whole team has worked together to make GKB successful. His ambition is to ensure that GKB can help drive the success of the Van de Velde Group as a whole.

In his private life, Mike is an enthusiastic boxer who enjoys watching football and motorsport, as well as spending lots of time with his family (he has two beautiful daughters). He also loves travelling. Ideally, he would like to zip off to a faraway destination every year, but it doesn’t always work out that way, unfortunately.
